According to the United States Census Bureau, there has been a 30% increase since 2000 in the number of multigenerational households. In 2009, there were 6.6 million households in America that had at least three generations living under one roof.

It is no surprise that a great deal of these multigenerational households are being formed because of economic reasons. This alone has created an increase in “boomerang kids.”

While these were not the reasons why we came together as a four-generational household, we understand there are reasons that make this necessary.
