In 34 years of marriage and 5 children, I’ve accumulated several sets of sheets–solid ones, floral ones, stripes, twin, queen and king. With so many different sized beds and sheet sets in all different patterns and colors, it can take forever to find those tiny little tags sewn in the corners to know which ones will fit which bed. A person like me can dread going to the linen closet when it’s time to choose clean sheets!
While several sets have been given to me as gifts over the years, I personally have been in charge of purchasing many sets of sheets myself, which means I’ve actually caused my own confusion. Little did I know for the longest time that there was a wonderful little tip that could have saved me from such aggravation. I’m thankful that I can share with you a very simple way on how to bring order to this area of life.
Make a decision now to purchase different patterns and colors for different sized beds in your home. Consider buying solid colors for your king-sized bed; floral patterns for the twin; stripes for the double, etc. This allows you a great deal of freedom in purchasing different colors and patterns, yet brings order to each category.
By making a decision to choose certain patterns and colors for your bed linens, it will save you so much time–especially when you move and they all get thrown together in a big box. Ask me how I know this!
And here’s a helpful tip when it comes to folding your sheets on laundry day. After folding the fitted bottom sheet and flat sheet, place them on top of each other and stuff them inside one of the pillowcases included in the set. This will keep all the linens of the set together and allow them to sit neatly on the shelf.
How’s that for easy?
Boy! I wish someone had shared these tips with me when I first married.

Ah Man! Here I was all excited to share the tip of putting the sheets inside the pillow case and you had it at the bottom of your post already. Oh well.
I love that tip! It’s crazy how hard it can be to find the pillow cases that go with the sheets you want. This works out great!!
