This recipe is definitely one of our family’s favorite. I learned about it from a special friend I have through homeschooling circles. I’ve seen this dessert called “Easy Turtle Delights” and “Pretzel Rolo Candies,” just to name a few. At our house, we call this treat, “Rolo Thumbprints.”
This is a very easy recipe. The “toughest” part of this one is unwrapping the Rolos! You can certainly recruit your children to help you unwrap the Rolos; however, you may not have the same number at the end of this project as you did when you started!
Rolo Thumbprints
1 bag of Rold Gold or Snyder’s pretzels (these are small round or square pretzels that look like little “waffles”)
1 13 oz. package of Rolo candies
1 lb. of pecan halves
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
- Line a 9 x 13 jelly roll pan with foil. (You can also use cookie sheets lined with foil.)
- Count how many Rolos are in the bag. Then count out the same number of pretzels and pecans. Put the pecans aside until later.
- Now place the pretzels on the foil.
- Unwrap all the Rolos.
- Place a Rolo in the middle of each pretzel.
- Put the pan into the preheated oven and leave for 5 minutes!
- Remove from the oven.
- While the Rolos are still soft, take a pecan half and press it into the middle of the Rolo. This will cause the Rolo to flatten and adhere to the waffling of the pretzel.
- Place pan with candy into the refrigerator and let cool and harden.
- Enjoy!
