Vickie & Faith

Hi there!  We’re so glad that you’ve found us! We are a mother-daughter team here to share tips, stories, insights, and information with you. We are both stay at home moms that homeschool our kids. If you have children, we’re pretty sure that you can identify with being a Side Tracked Mom! Life pulls you in one direction and then another and just as you’re headed in one direction…a random thought, a new idea, or an item you just remembered on your To-Do list pops into your head and you’re off in another direction.

Throughout our blog you may notice us commenting on each other’s entries. You’ll see a picture of one of our faces next to our interjections.

We hope that you enjoy your time here. This is a new project for us but so far it has been a great opportunity for the two of us to spend time sharing new ideas with each other and we hope it will do the same for you.

Vickie’s Bio

Welcome! My name is Vickie and I’m married to my best friend and high-school sweetheart, Jim for 34 years now. From our dating days, I always knew Jim would become a doctor, which he has been since 1978. However, I never would have guessed that he’d one day become a full-time pastor at our church.

Amidst the flurry of activity that comes with raising children, we’ve also enjoyed homeschooling them for the past 19 years. Homeschooling has benefited our family in countless ways–ones that I believe will become evident throughout the musings of this blog (and how fun for me to be doing a blog with my daughter!)

While homeschooling continues to bless and simplify my life, other projects have filled my days with activity and promise. When the four of us are not traveling the country in our mini-RV, I find myself keeping busy with writing, teaching, reading, and learning more stuff about computers and technology than I ever imagined, or ever wanted to know! I can’t even remember the last time I thought I was bored!

So, this is me in a nutshell: I’m a Christian, happily married, mother of five, grandmother of five, friend, confidante, pastor’s wife, reader, author, teacher, traveler, breadmaker, quilter, mentor, and “yet to be determined.”

Throughout the life of this blog, you will certainly learn a lot more about me; but for now, just let me say “welcome” and I look forward to times of sharing and hope you benefit from your time here.

Faith’s Bio

Hi! My name is Faith and I’ve been married to my husband, Shawn, for ten years. We have two wild and crazy sons, Hunter and Connor and this past year I finally got to add some more pink to our household when little Melody joined our family. In the words of our son, Hunter, his daddy is “a computer genius.” As a web developer by day and all around computer-fixer-upper in every other spare moment he has, Hunter’s assessment is pretty accurate.

I am a stay-at-home mom, doing my best to juggle homeschooling, all the mom duties that running a household requires, and a part time job for our church that I can do mainly from home. I also spend my time in graphic design, website design, desktop publishing, managing an online forum, and writing on other blogs.
